The 15th Night Program has come to Churchill High School and is recruiting COMMUNITY RESPONDER volunteers
I enthusiastically endorse this program!
The 15th Night serves as a safeguard for 482 of our Eugene-Springfield students who are navigating school, life and homelessness alone.
These vulnerable Eugene-Springfield students face an unacceptable risk of losing their childhood, sense of trust, education and hope if they find themselves on the street. The 15th Night is a youth-informed community-wide partnership working to align and leverage existing resources in innovative ways to prevent students from going out on the street, and intervening quickly if they do.
A Community Responder is a volunteer that responds to text message “alerts” sent by the 4J-15th Night Coordinator. Alerts are for needs specific to CHS students. These types of alerts could be for items such as clothing, shoes, small household items, food or bedding. A Churchill Community Responder would receive a text message indicating the need. If the Responder can help, they respond to the text message and work out any logistics with the 4J-15N Coordinator.
